If a specific fear has started to shape your choices, your routes, your plans or your sense of freedom, phobias and fears hypnotherapy can help at the level where those fast, automatic alarm responses are learned and held. In Blackpool, I offer one‑to‑one sessions for people who feel overtaken by fear in situations that others may find manageable, even when part of them knows the reaction is bigger than the actual danger.
A phobia is not “just being dramatic,” and it is not solved by telling yourself to get over it. Very often, your system has linked a situation, object or experience with danger so quickly and so strongly that the reaction happens before you have time to think.
What this work can help with
- Fear of driving, bridges, motorways or being a passenger
- Fear of flying or travelling
- Fear of needles, blood, dental treatment or medical procedures
- Fear of enclosed spaces, crowds or being unable to get away
- Fear of spiders, dogs or other animals
- Fear responses that bring panic, avoidance or embarrassment into everyday life
How I use hypnotherapy with fears and phobias
Using conversational hypnotherapy, Ericksonian approaches and NLP, we work with the learned pattern between trigger and alarm response rather than simply trying to “talk sense” into the fear. The aim is to help your mind and body update what that trigger means, so you can respond with more steadiness and less automatic panic.
This does not mean forcing you into overwhelming exposure or pushing too fast. We work in a way that respects your nervous system, builds a sense of safety, and helps create more choice where fear has been taking over.
What sessions are like
Sessions are usually 90 minutes and take place in person in Blackpool, serving people from across the Fylde Coast and nearby areas. We begin by understanding exactly how the fear works for you — what sets it off, what you avoid, what happens in your body, and what you want to be able to do more freely.
From there, we use focused attention, language, imagery and other brief change approaches to loosen the link between the trigger and the old fear response. The goal is not to pretend you will never feel fear again, but to help you stop feeling trapped or dictated to by it.
